Talk with Sohrâb Chitan, a talented French choreographer and dancer from Bordeaux. We first met Sohrâb during the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories in Hyère, at Villa Noailles in Octobre 2021. His dance performance immediately caught our attention with its vivid emotional delivery. Through his dance, Sohrab tells us his story and his body language is incredibly eloquent.
The young and ambitious Sohrâb Chitan founded his company in 2013. The same year, he began creating choreography VOYAGES I II III, which he showed in 2015 and 2016 at the Casino Barrière, at the Festival Cadences, at the Liburnia and at the Théâtre de Ménilmontant in Paris.
In 2017, he began creating a performance “Dhikr”, in co-production with IDDAC and the city of Bordeaux. And he interned with choreographer Yuval Pieck at CCN in Rilleux-la-Pape. In the same year, his company created a “Faun”, choreographed and directed by Benjamin Pech, the star dancer of the Paris National Opera.
In 2022, his dance performance “Fin de Journée” premiered at Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Sohrâb Chitan was further appointed artist-assistant for the city of Les Buscats for the 2021/2022 season.
On July 7, Sohrâb and his dance company presented “DETER” at Palais Galliera in Paris. This latest creation “DETER” was created during the third lockdown last year and now closes the exhibition “Love Brings Love” in honor of designer Alber Elbaz.
We interviewed Sohrâb Chitan on the eve of his show at the Palais Galliera, also known as the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris (Paris Fashion Museum).
