You were born in Nicaragua. Are there echoes of your past life in Nicaragua in your collections?
Of course, Nicaragua taught me to be a dreamer. It’s where it all started. My roots and culture always will be a part of my life and my collections
What has Project Runway Latin America «given» you besides the winning?
It definitely has given me a lot. The title “Winner of Season 19” weighs my career. Besides the title, Project Runaway, has allowed me to see further, reaffirmed my talent and validated me as a woman entrepreneur. It allowed me to make connections and to sign contracts. It given me a hope to continue believing in my dream.
During Project Runaway I’ve realised how much my family and friends support me. It was such an amazing feeling, one that I cherish as one of the most valuable.
For each participant this project was a valuable opportunity to grow and learn as an artist and also as a human. After the show my personal strength grew, I became better in managing everything.
Life is full of ups and downs, and having titles doesn’t guarantee us success and happiness, but being strong enough to move on, does. One of my favorite phrases says: “You don’t get ahead by celebrating successes but by overcoming failures.” -Orison Swett Marden
Why do you think some fans were dissatisfied with the results of Project Runway competition?
I think that in any competition there’s always those who agree and those who disagree with the choice of the winner. It is normal. It’s part of exposing yourself as a participant of a TV show and being a public figure.
Was the $250,000 prize enough to launch the brand?
No, we have invested time, energy, and our capital into the brand for years. Definitely, this award allowed us to take a step forward, but there’s still a lot of capital investment needed to position the brand and to be who we visioned to be.
Your favorite collection and the item from everything that you ever created? Why?
I don’t have a favorite collection because creating the collection is similar to having a child. You don’t love one of your kids over another. The same is with the collection. To create a collection represents sacrifice, time, stress and anxiety. You only can breathe again when collection is finally finished.
Your collections of clothes and accessories are unique. What does your brand symbolize and stands for?
One of the most important things within the brand’s DNA is to rescue elements of Latin American culture and specifically Nicaragua, In my collections there are so much handmade work of Latin America artisans. That is why when we talk about the brand we always emphasize that we believe in the unique power of Latin American art, its artists and artisans. Our designs are for women that like to experiment through fashion and take pride in being different.
Accessories with spiders, is there a special profound meaning in it?
I made the jewelry collection in collaboration with the Mexican designer Daniel Espinosa at his factory in Taxco, Mexico. Working with the Taxco artisans has been one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had.
This collection was about to be launched at the same time that my Instinto-Resort 2019, for which animals were my inspiration, so that’s why spiders came as an element for the jewelry.

A thin edge of seduction and the consumerism fetish is thoroughly blurred in Acosta’s art in the use of both light, and dark tones. Bold lines serve as a fashionable juxtaposition of a peaceful dream-like state and a vivid color, representing action and presence in the moment.
