Describe how your style has changed throughout your life? And what is your style like now?

My style used to be just comfortable, not very up to date with fashion. Since 2-3 years, I’m more caught up with trends, nothing extravagant, but I try to look around more to see what’s going in the fashion world. I try not to copy, but rather create my own style.

Who is your favorite fashion designer?

I like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors.

Do you wish fashion designers created costumes for gymnasts? Which designer would your costume be designed by?

It would be awesome! I’m not sure I’d pick my top-3 designers to create a costume, because gymnastics is so far from normal clothing, and the costumes have to fit in “sparkles” category. I have a «less is more» kind of taste, so maybe I’d pick a costume by Calvin Klein, but I would definitely prefer to see all names before all.

At 2016 Olympics you took the highest placing ever for a gymnast from Netherlands, however you didn’t get a medal. What is your personal goal for the Tokyo Olympics?

In Rio we made history for the Netherlands. Me and my team got the 7th place, one of the girls got a gold medal, and it has never been done before in our country. For Tokyo, I feel lucky to have made it in a team, because I’m still coping with a little injury. Now I just really hope to give the best out of myself, and see where we are at. Because of Covid we didn’t have any international competitions, and I don’t know how far the world is, and where I am standing comparing to it, so I just really hope to do my best. It’s always a dream to get a medal, but it’s hard to claim it out loud, before you even start a competition.

There are a lot of street fashion bloggers in Netherlands. Do you have any favorite ones you follow?

Being in my gymnastics bubble, I haven’t really been able to pay attention to street style. But it sounds interesting for me to check out.

Both you and Marcello shared the same passion for dynamic movement. Explain you personal love for the beauty of movement.

I love the beauty of movement. In gymnastics people say I’m known for my beautiful lines. I actually don’t really like to watch myself, so can’t say of this is true (laughs). People internationally like my artistry and I try to keep bringing something new in, for example, I have a new floor routine sung by me, and it’s the first time someone has done it. I recreated music from 1,5 minutes, that I sing by myself, and I think that’s kind of cool, and it’s new in the artistic world of Netherlands. The combination of my new choreography and music creates a whole new performance, and I think internationally people are very excited about that. That’s what beauty of movement means to me, just expressing myself.

I will wear it in the gym to warm up, because it’s comfy, at home when I’m resting, and to go out.
